CCTV installation

Cameras earn their keep when the footage is sharp enough to identify someone, kept long enough to be found, and easy to view when you are not there. Secura designs and installs CCTV for retail, medical, industrial, club and residential sites across Melbourne’s east, choosing camera positions for the risks the site actually has rather than the number on the box.

Good to know

Before you decide

Resolution is not everything

A camera that is too high, too far or facing the glare records a very sharp picture of nobody. Position and lens choice decide whether the footage identifies a person; we plan both before we quote.

Keep the footage long enough

A theft is often discovered days later. We size the recorder for a retention period that suits the business, typically 30 days for retail, and set it to overwrite cleanly rather than stop.

Cameras and the law

Victoria’s surveillance laws and the Privacy Act set rules on where cameras can look, recording audio and telling people they are on camera. Workplace and customer-facing systems need signage and sensible placement; we set them up that way.

How it goes

Assessment first, then the install

  1. Tell us about the site

Ring or send the form with the address, whether it is a business or a home, and what worries you. Photos and plans help.

  2. Free security assessment

Rob or a technician looks at the site, the existing equipment and how the place is used, and recommends only what will earn its keep.

  3. Install and connect

A written quote first. Then licensed technicians install the alarm, cameras or access control and connect it to the control room.

  4. Monitored and looked after

From day one the control room watches the site, patrols respond when needed, and Secura stays your point of contact for changes and faults.

Questions

CCTV installation: common questions

Can I watch the cameras from my phone?
Yes. Every system we install includes secure remote viewing on phone and computer, live and recorded, with an account for each person who should have access and none for those who should not.
Can the control room watch my cameras?
Video can be used to verify an alarm, so the control room sees what triggered it and responds accordingly. Continuous live watching of a site is a different, larger service; ask us if that is what you need.
Can you add to the cameras I already have?
Often. We check what is there, what is still supported and what the recorder can take, and quote extensions or replacements honestly. Unsupported recorders with known security holes are replaced.
Do you do homes?
Yes. Driveway, front door and rear-yard cameras with phone alerts are the most common home set-up, usually alongside an alarm.
